Birthdays

Yesterday was my Mom's birthday. It got me thinking about birthdays (as I often do in the summer) and I think of how great they are and how they mean another year added to our experiences. I was so excited to get my Mom's cake and special dinner, and to give my Mom her present. So often I find that I get lost in my own world, birthdays give me a chance to think of others and what they like and what would make their day special. I am grateful for the chance to get out side of my self, out side of the day to day and to tell someone that they are loved and valued. Each birthday gives me that chance. I am grateful I got to do that for my Mom yesterday.
Birthdays also add one more year to our life. This seems so significant because truly the only thing that is going with to the next life is our memories and what we have learned here. Each year gives us more memories, more opportunities to learn and more time to grow. Sometimes this isn't easy, but it is always worthwhile.
